WHO WE ARE
Continental Strategic Development Foundation (CSDF) is a community-centered development organization being established to support locally led responses to persistent social, economic, environmental and humanitarian challenges across Africa.
CSDF is founded on the principle that sustainable development begins with communities themselves. We work toward strengthening the systems, capabilities and partnerships that enable communities to identify priorities, develop practical solutions, access appropriate resources and sustain meaningful progress.
Our areas of focus include education and community infrastructure, protection of women and girls, prevention of harmful practices including FGM, peacebuilding and social cohesion, health and WASH, climate and environmental resilience, livelihoods and food security, youth development, humanitarian preparedness, research and evidence, digital innovation, governance and institutional strengthening.
CSDF seeks to connect community knowledge and ownership with evidence, technical expertise, responsible financing and strategic partnerships. Our approach is designed to move beyond short-term interventions toward solutions that communities can understand, participate in, maintain and scale.
The Foundation is being developed with an initial institutional focus on Kenya and a long-term ambition to contribute to sustainable development initiatives across the African continent.
Our Vision
A continent where communities are empowered, resilient and equipped to shape inclusive, peaceful and sustainable futures.
Our Mission
To work with communities and strategic partners to design, support and scale practical, evidence-informed solutions that strengthen human dignity, resilience, opportunity and sustainable development.
CSDF connects community priorities with knowledge, technical capacity, responsible resources and effective partnerships. Through locally grounded programmes, research, learning and institutional strengthening, we seek to address the underlying factors that limit communities’ ability to achieve lasting social and economic progress.
Our Values
Community Ownership
Communities are partners in development. We listen to local priorities, respect community knowledge and involve communities in designing, implementing and assessing solutions.
Integrity & Accountability
We commit to responsible stewardship of resources, transparent decision-making, ethical conduct and accountability to communities, partners, regulators and supporters.
Human Dignity & Inclusion
We promote dignity, equality and meaningful participation, with particular attention to people and groups whose access to opportunity, protection and essential services is limited.
Evidence & Learning
We use research, data, community knowledge and programme learning to inform decisions, measure results and continuously improve our work.
Partnership & Collaboration
We believe complex development challenges require collaboration among communities, government, civil society, technical institutions, responsible businesses and development partners.
Sustainability & Resilience
We prioritize solutions that strengthen local capacity, reduce dependency, protect natural and social resources and enable communities to withstand and recover from future challenges.
